Other than that, it appears to be in surprisingly good shape, considering its probable age. The eyebrow bracket has a number cast on the inside, showing us that it is newer than the bucket, but not by much. Prior model's had an aluminum nacelle like the big twins did, and the later model's added turn signal wiring, then electric start wiring inside the headlight, till things got really crowded. I ll leave those details up to you.

This one will clean up real nice if you re working on a restoration. The paint is worn through where the speed or front brake cable rubbed on the right side. The plated carriage bolt that secures the bucket to the eyebrow is good, and the chrome plug is still shiny, and the spherical washer is there as well.

The ground wire is riveted directly to the shell, and the high and low beam wires have spade terminals held to insulated blocks by screws. The three prong plug appears to be Bakelite, and looks good also. Both blocks appear to be in good working condition. The back side of the bucket is stamped with guide made in USA in a small circle by the terminal block, and along the rim by the inner ring it says guides 64, which may or may not be a clue to its age.

The may have started with the zilch model's. The two chrome rings that hold the headlight in are both real smooth and shiny, and have what appears to be the original round head screws still in place with good slots in them.

Look inside this headlight bucket, and all you see are three wires and a plug. There plenty of scratches and dirt on it, too, inside and out, and the residue from a white paper glued on label or decal on the back side, but it sound, with no dings and no rust.

The design of it identifies this headlight as off a Harley Davidson Sportster model, probably built around the rubber insert that locates and holds the headlight is in pretty good shape, and the three notches inside that locate the light are real good. The rivets are tight. The blocks are held in with clips on the inside, and two more screws on the outside made up the entire electrical system for this headlight.

There are no other holes in this headlight bucket.
